Donor support will enable the University to educate tomorrow’s leaders, graduate globally aware and socially engaged citizens, and spark continuous creativity and innovation. There are multiple ways to advance these objectives by supporting key funding categories within the College of Applied Science and Technology.
The college has identified four key priorities which are highlighted below.
Scholarships enable the college to attract and retain students, increasing our ability to compete for individuals who will benefit from the applied learning focus that characterizes CAST degree programs.
The CAST Student Success Center supports students through tutoring, enhanced developmental skill training, and the expertise of industry-specific speakers who represent first-generation and under-represented students. Developmental skill opportunities go beyond the requirements of CAST courses and programs to target areas such as financial acumen, technical writing, and oral communication.
Funding through persistence grants provides direct support to CAST students who are making progress toward degree completion, but who experience roadblocks related to housing or food insecurity. They are consequently forced to choose between living expenses and tuition expenses. Grants pay the remaining tuition bill after other sources of financial aid are exhausted so that the student can remain enrolled and progress toward degree completion. CAST provides between $30,000 and $50,000 in student support each semester.
Named and visiting professorships help CAST recruit talented faculty members who contribute to the excellence of the college’s academic programs.
